Has any exp. all day panic, constant? I wrote earlier.
I am having all day attacks what should I do.
I have racing heart, lump in the throat, and jittery,
numbness and burning and I just feel awful.
Is this a chemical imbalance? Or will it go away?

Hi Jen
I can say from my experience that it will go away. Mine were constant too at first but after a while I think i almost got used to it and it lessened each week until one day i was watching tv and realised that my chest wasnt hurting and i couldnt feel my heart pounding loudly.
What a great feeling - hope it happens to you soon!
love Sarah

hi jennifer,

ime sooo sorry, you really are suffering at the moment, arent you!

ime glad that sarah replied to you,as she is one of many success stories...shes been there, done it,and wears the T shirt with pride.

jennifer, you have been prescribed a mild beta blocker...i would take it,it will slow down your heart rate, lower your blood pressure, and hopefully calm the panic.

all your symptoms are well documented on this site,we are very lucky...we have radar...a registered nurse,if she thought for one minute, that your symptoms were going to cause you harm...she would be the first to say dial 911,or in the uk 999.

radar has often recommended bach rescue...just a few drops in a bottle of mineral water...sip all day,ime sure this would help you,as it slowly calms down the bodies nervous system, helping alleviate anxiety.

i really wish you well,your happily married,lovely kiddie,new home..keep posting,well beat it together.

very best wishes,..bryan.

Hi Jennifer,

You are not doing well I know, we have all had and gone through these same symptoms and they are horrible while going on, but just as soon as you can relax and calm down you will feel much better!!! Easier said than done I know. I have not tried the "Bach Rescue" myself but have seen it mentioned on here before. I may try that myself although I am not sure if it is available in the USA by that same name. Bryan could you let us know if that is the name in the USA too? Just keep coming back here for support, like Bryan said we will beat this together!!!! This forum has been a life saver for me, or atleast a mind saver!!! You are not alone, I know it is hard but you will overcome this, just keep reminding yourself of that.

Take care dear,

Diana xxx :)

Hi , Yes it is in the USA..

Try www.bachcentre.com

Jennifer, there are lots of things you can do to help yourself..

There are several things that you can do to help yourself with these although they are not ‘cures’ in the traditional way as taking an antibiotic and the infection goes away completely.

Medication can help to give you a break from the worst part of panic but unless something else changes within you - when you come off the medication the issues remain and often the panic reoccurs.

Other avenues that do help include:

Breathing - Learn to breathe from your diaphragm, your tummy should rise and fall with your breath as well as your chest. Ensure your out breath is longer than the in one. A count of 4 in – 6 out is great. Use this as soon as you feel panic rising. Alternatively, hold your breath for a few seconds

Distraction- As soon as you feel the anxiety soaring and you get afraid – do something different. Change your environment, talk to someone, do something, distract yourself. It’s often enough to dissipate the panic .

Comfort yourself – be totally positive with yourself but do allow yourself to go with it. Keep giving yourself positive messages that this will pass naturally and cannot harm you- breath and distract.

Regular exercise – uses the adrenaline/ noradrenaline and the cortisol that are secreted when panic sets in and enhances endorphine production

Tai’ chi or Yoga – promotes complete relaxation as well as stretching. This has a cumulative effect so try it regularly. The meditation part also helps learn to still the mind and cumulatively is a very effective exercise to learn to use during panic.

Relaxation tapes are extremely useful . Find one you like and stick to it. Play it every day whether you are stressed or not and soon whenever you feel anxious just putting it on will relieve that tension .

Massage- releases the tension that builds up in your tissues. Often with anxiety we store it in major muscle groups apart from the usual chronic shoulders and neck so leg muscles etc can go into spasm. Reaction from the guts is also common, you may find you get wild disturbances.

When you are starting to feel anxious - Bach rescue remedy will take the edge off.. These are flower essences, are completely safe and have no sideeffects. A couple of squirts in a bottle of water and sip liberally all day. Additionally, I used Aspen for fear, Cherry plum for terror and Rock rose for control.

Nutritional supplements – having panic and anxiety is extremely draining on your body resources. A strong 50-100 mg Vit B complex supplement is highly recommended as is extra calcium and magnesium , take this one at night .Omega 3 or eating oily fish is also proved to be good especially for mild depression.
www.quest.co.uk is a reputable source in the UK.

Unless you’re intolerant , warm milk at night contains tryptosan which promotes sleep and relaxation.Turkey does the same - strange but true !

Aromatherapy- lavender, clary sage, vetiver oil baths.

If you are really shaky passiflora /lemon balm/ valerian root/ hops tinctures for instant help or tablets regularly.
St Johns Wort can also help but doesn’t kick in for 3 weeks or so

Kava Kava is brilliant for anxiety but is currently withdrawn from the EU whilst investigations go on into possible liver sideeffects complicated by anxiety people often taking to alcohol for relief…

For constant insomnia melatonin is excellent. It’s not available in the UK but widely available in the US where its main use is for jetlag

With all of the herbs above if you are on any other medications at all then you must check it out carefully and ask for professional advice. SJW is a definite No if you’re on the pill, immunosuppressants or anti coagulants.

If you find anxiety is worse in the morning try eating little but often and keep to protein and complex carbohydrates- nuts/seeds are a great choice, it’s recommended to have a breakfast – (not sugar puffs or similar) when you get up and then a snack wit

Thanks for all the help. I just got home. I went out today on my own. I took my son furniture shopping. I was ok. I took the 10 mlg. of beta blocker today. It did def. calm my heart. However, my head is so hot and I'm unusually warm too - I went to the park for my son and thought I was going to pass out from the warmth. I took a deep breath and continued on. Didn't rush off. Not sure if from the anxiety or meds.. reply?
Anyway, I'm taking it one day at a time. I have an apt. w/ a physc. on Monday = can hardly wait. It's unreal that all these strange feelings I have in my body could be anxiety/panic _ I really feel awful. Like a terminal disease... xoxox

Hi Meg,

Good information for all, thanks!!! Can you use the "BACH RESCUE" with other prescribed meds., like Avandia, and Glucovance for diabetes, and Advair for asthma? Are there any meds. you should`nt be taking if you want to use the "BACH RESCUE"? Lastly, is this something to use daily or just when feeling anxious or panicky? Thanks for all the kaboodles of information you give us.

Cheers,

Diana xxx

Hi Jennifer,

Glad to hear you were able to get out today. Keep doing that and things will get better. Good thing you did`nt rush off, as you may have felt like doing so. That is definitely a stand in taking control!!! As for the warmth, I am not sure, I would say the anxiety could be a factor, also is`nt it quite warm where you are? Could be a combination, but I`ll just bet Meg will have a better answer for you. Keep up the good work, and remember to keep coming back let us know how you are doing.

Take care,

Diana xxx :)

Hey Jennifer,

I forgot to add, that it does feel like a terminal disease does`nt it? Strange how anxiety affects different people. Good luck on Monday with your appt. You are already doing the right things though, so keep it up. Taking things one day at a time is all we can do. You are not alone!!! remember this.

Hi Diana,

Yes, it doesn't interact with anything. It's just flower extracts.
I used to put 2 squirts into a bottle of water and sip liberally all day if I knew it was going to be a challenging day.

If I suddenly felt anxious - then 3 drops under tongue neat and follow up with diluted version.

It's not a dramatic difference - but a subtle one.

Jennifer - well done for keeping going and working through it. It's certainly not terminal or I'd have been dead ages ago !
