Prozac...Flatulence and Bloating

I know the topic is a bit of a turn off but, I am new to Prozac as of a few weeks ago. I am feeling very bloated and passing wind like there is no tomorrow...as I also have High Health Anxiety I assume the worse rather than the Prozac. Did anybody else experience similar side effects with Prozac? If the answer (for those who stayed on the medicine past the first few weeks) is yes to that question did this side effect go away after some time?

I haven't taken Prozac myself, but I thoroughly probed the brains of the pharmacists when I workd in a hospital pharmacy on the subject!

"digestive upset" is a really common side effect of Prozac, and this can come in the form of farting up a storm, apparently. It isn't the most commonly *reported* side effect, but that may well be that most people don't talk about farting, and are rather embarrassed by it. People were much less embarrassed to say they had diarrheoa than wind for some unknown reason!

Anyway, I would recommend, if you're still worried about it tomorrow, that you talk to your local friendly pharmacist. If you have a hospital pharmacy near you, toddle along to them (or phone them), as they will know their carrots. (at the pharmacy I was at there was a specialist "mental health" pharmacist, who knew her drugs inside out)
