Does anyone believe that after 6 weeks at at certain dose with no reaction its likely to work at a higher dose, or are we just being placated by the shrinks

not sure! it has taken me 4 months on citalopram to feel myself again - however - i have done a lot of accepting and self work such as cbt etc so hard to tell how much meds and how much me! i did improve all the time but v v slowly. if you have had no improvement whatsover then i think they usually suggest trying another ssri. x

been on so many now i think sertraline is the last chance saloon.
As we all act differently to meds i think the shrinks are puzzled why meds work on some and not others. would love to hear from anyone who had given up hope with meds then suddenly felt better

Personally 20mg citalopram did very little however 40mg was just right for me although the ups and downs continue my generally depressive state has been lifted so I would go for it with a positive attitude and not fear the worst.
Good luck x:shades:
