A poem I wrote about my bus success !! :yesyes:
Phobias how unfair, how cruel
with our emotions we have to duel
one says Yes and one says No
the decision is mine, which way to go.
The panic begins, dry mouth, shaky hands
putting a stop to carefully made plans
walk to the stop, taking it slow
to passers-by no-one would know.
I had plotted my course, determined to win
but then old familiar feelings begin
my legs turn to jelly, I fell dizzy and faint
a fun experience this certainly ain't.
I want to control it, to get a grip
willing myself to have a good trip
No I can't...I stand dead in my tacks
but then I find strengh there's no going back.
I walk for a while repeat "relax and calm"
this 'thing' I know can do me no harm
eventually I manage to get on the bus
pay the driver, sit down without fuss.
My eyes fill up, I want to scream
"my good side is winning, I'm living my dream"
to others this fete is a daily chore
I hope my bus phobia will be no more.
It will not be easy, the voice is still there
saying don't get on, don't you dare
I still feel sick and physically ill
but hopefully one day I no longer will.
