Hello all! Another newbie!

Hello!
I'm Taffy - I'm 25 and live in Manchester with my partner and little girl who is 3 years old.

Found this site after looking up information on Citalopram which I've just been prescribed.

Starting tomorrow on 20mg, then have been advised after a few days to up to 40mg, and then after another few days up it to 60mg. Bit nervous after reading the information so far, but with any luck I'll be a better person for taking it :)

I started on 60mg Citalopram right away, and did well on it after a shakey start!

Hi there. There is so much help and support on here I'm sure it will be of great use to you. warning though it plays havoc with housework and other stuff. I was on citalopram for 2 years but only 20mg. I didn't find it helped that much but maybe I needed a higher dose. The first day I took it I had a strange reaction which passed after a few hours. I would be inclined to have someone with me for the first day if poss.

hiya taffeta :welcome: to nmp its great to have you here :yesyes:. you will gets lots of support and advice from all the great ppl here i know i have. about your meds you are starting... some ppl dont get and side effects at all others may get mild ones and others may get worse ones everyone differs hun. it sounds like your doc is starting you off slowly and they can take a few weeks to start working for you 2-8. talk to your doc if you are over worried about anything. well hun we have a great chat room and i hope to talk to you in there some time. take care .:hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

My personal advice would be to settle on 30mg before upping so quickly as you may find the side effects hard to deal with.
