Hi all,

its only day 4 for me of citalopram on my small dose of 5mg but wow side effects.I know its early days but the panic, feeling of being spaced and in general just feeling weird are not too nice.

I've been on all the meds during the last 4 years for panic disorder.I guess its like they say 'leave the best for last'.I do know if I have been given this med before I could handle the condition some bit it theres no way I would try and continue with it.

generally do the side effects lessen after week 1?I will be upping it to 10mg after about a week. Its always best for me to start on a low dose otherwise I go through the roof with anxiety/panic.

bet :hugs: :hugs:

They say about 6 weeks but I think lots of us find that after about 10 days things improve... it's gradual though! I upped my dose from 10mg to 20 after a while and the sideeffects were no way near as bad as the initial dose.

I am on day 11 (20mg) and the side effects (which were luckily not too bad anyway) seem to be going and I have felt much better today so hopefully they are starting to work. I started on 10mg (coz I was scared to take them) and the only thing that happened when I upped it to 20mg was I was a bit sleepier for a couple of days.

Stick with it I am sure you will be fine in a couple of days.

This is my 3rd time of being on citalopram and I think the side effects are the worst they have ever been. I've only ever suffered with nausea before so expected that but that has really hit me hard and now I feel run down and ill like I'm getting the flu or something. Anyone else felt like this when first starting citalopram?

Maybe you are coming down with flu? It can be quite easy to blame everything on the citalopram but it could just be that you have caught a cold!
