Hello all

Well it has been a while since I have posted something, but I was wondering if someone could pass on their experiences and advice.

I have been taking citalopram for post natal depression now for 5 weeks, suffered a few side effects but was feeling a lot better, out and about and socialising alot more and no anxiety . However during the weekend the anxiety had comeback. Today I am feeling better but totally wiped out infact exhausted.

Did anyone else experience a set back whilst on these tablets? I am hoping their will still be a light at the end of the tunnel!!

Hiya Claire

Glad yr feelin a bit better today .

I was given meds (seroxat) for pnd and ocd , and like you had 'blips'.
Just wanted to add that I have been on citalopram for a good while now and although have had some rotten times , I really feel that I would have been much worse without the meds if u know what I mean .

It is still very early days for you hun and u r doing so brilliantly , much better than I did ! So try to look at it as a part of your recovery and not worry too much if poss . If you find that the anxiety creeps up often , I would suggest you go back to doc's they may increase the dose, just an idea . Grab all you can to help you at this time and keep up the good work .

Take care
Hope xx

Hi Hope

thanks for your feedback, it is good to know that I am on the road to recovery!!

Still shattered today, but I surpose all the anxiety can take it out of you! Hopefully the little one will have a sleep this pm so I can!

Thanks again for your advice:winks:

Hi
Ive been on it 2 months now and overall there is a great improvement but i still have blips. At the moment i feel exhausted too no matter how much sleep i get. Also feeling very tense again but nothing like how it was and not all the time. Im hoping it will soon pass, im not worrying about it like i would have before. Ive also had a few drinks the last 2 weekends and have definately noticed i feel worse for a couple of days after. I think im going to completely abstain for a while.
Keep with it and hope you feel better soon.

Hi Donna

Thanks for your post... it is good to know that this is the "normal" process, not feeling to bad this morning, but woke up with a "jump" this morning after a bad dream!! how weird.

I am determined to get through this, learning to relax and take each day at a time.

Good luck to you too

Hi Claire,
Did you have an 'event' that caused the anxiety at the weekend or was it just out of the blue?.If it was an event then maybe you need a slight increase in dose.I was doing well on 20mg for a couple of months but had to increase to 30mg after falling apart due to an 'event'. I now function well and am able to deal with anything that happens.I've found the right dose for me.Maybe have a word with your gp?
I did'nt have pnd though,it was mainly anxiety with a bit of depression too.I hope you feel better soon.:hugs:

Hi Julie

To be honest I am not really sure what has caused it. For a few weeks things had been great, but I have noticed whilst the meds were kicking in I suffered with hightened anxiety and side effects, like everything seemed to get better before it got worse. Ihave also pulled my back which is not the best having a baby, so in a way I am hoping it is the recovery process and I am just feeling down having a bad back.
Each day does seem to be getting better, I am just getting frustrated with it and feeling so exhausted. This is so out of character for me!!!

Oh well... time to start feeling positive!!

Love Claire

Fraid that the feeling exhausted is probably due to having a baby!

I was about to post the exact same question so am reading your replies with interest. I've been on Citralopram for 8 weeks but have only been on 20mg for 2 weeks. My reaction has been very similar to yours but have found increasingly longer gaps between "blips" so am hoping eventually they'll stop altogether. I had a blip yesterday after being fine for over a week. I'm fine again today though.

Hi Mumof2

I am glad that this post has been of some use to you too, it sounds as though things are getting better for yourself.

I think my main problem has been because I have not been eating as much as I should, because of feeling sick etc, so now I feel very exhausted, plus I am up feeding my daughter during the night. I am very lucky as she is a dream of a baby and very contented.

I did have 2 weeks of feeling ok but now I am annoyed that this set back has happened. Its not that I am scared to go out or anything like that which I know is good, I need to learn to relax and do things as I feel I can.

Did you suffer with tiredness? How long have your blips lastest and was it for a shorter period each time?

take carex

Hi

Yes I did/still do suffer from tiredness, although I do have 2 small children and am rushed off my feet so I'm not sure the drug is entirely to blame. I've only been on 20mg for 2 weeks, was on 10mg before, and yesterday's episode was the first real blip I've had since going on the higher dose. I believe it may have been triggered by the fact I'm under an awful lot of stress at the moment - we have the builders in and have just decided we will have to move out next weekend and stay with relatives which I know will be unsettling as I prefer my own space. It was also Monday morning which I always dread anyway. When I was on the lower dose I'd have a blip maybe about once a week. The blips only seem to last a day, 2 at the most.

Hope you continue to improve :)

I was on 10ml for about four weeks and suffered bad anxiety just as it was beginning to wane and work i upped the dose to 20ml and the anxety has come back in a big way. Getting married in less than 4 weeks and that is obvioiusly a big stress (even though everyone says how happy i must be i'm incredibly anxious about the whole thing!!)

I've got diazepam if the anxiety gets too bad and usually its worse in the morning, also takes lots of omega 3. I'm hoping the anxiety will calm down so i can feel the meds kicking in because i definitely don't want to feel like this on my wedding day!

Well I am pleased to say that finally after my set back I seem to have turned the corner and I am on the road to recovery, no more sickness, anxiety or feeling of dread!!

All I can say is, even though things seem tough at times stick with it and you will get there.......

take care all:yesyes:
