Hello everyone. I am in my fifties and have had avoidance/social anxieties since childhood. I struggle to improve my life and make myself socialise/join classes etc and although I can go on for quite long periods feeling pretty ok, I eventually revert to negative thinking habits (they have been there a long time) which cause me to feel pretty useless. I have friends who are lovely to me but I frequently feel that I don't deserve them. This is my second attempt to post a thread, the first just seemed to disappear somewhere (useless again!). Is anyone out there as old as me who can relate to my problem? I did originally write much more than this but I half expect this one will disappear too.

Hi Maddy,

Welcome to the site. Sometimes my posts disappear too. Be sure to check the "remember me box" when you sign it, it helps you stay logged in when you are posting. Yes, we do have members of many ages here, I'm 50 myself. I'm glad you have friends and yes you do deserve them, that is just your anxiety talking. Many here understand how you are feeling and you will get support here.

Many hugs,

Laura
