View Full Version : sorry - escitalopram again
Im so worried this med is going to turn me mad - does anyone know if you are more likely to get side effects from these because they more concentrated form of citalopram? And, are hot and cold feelings through body normal, and after 6 days should side effects not be subsiding?
if it's an ssri it will take at least 4 - 6 weeks to work and by then symptoms will subside however some will stay... sorry.
I asked my neurologist and he said ssri will not damage the brain over long term use, even using it for the rest of your life.
Google medhelp and leave this question for a Neurologist to answer
At the end of the day though you should always doubly check woth your Dr.
Hope i helped a little
Hi,
My husband was on escitalopram and when we moved to bristol his new dr changed him to citalopram bcos he said it is almost exactly the same but escitalopram is more expensive.
He didn't have side effects with either citalopram or escitalopram but he was prescribed it for depression not anxiety. I'm on citalopram for anxiety and i spent the first night on it in a + e bcos i had excessive palpitations after i switched to taking it in the morning i had no side effects. my dr started me on 10 and the up'd it to 20...
hot and cold feelings are probably just a temporary side effect. it's likely to take a couple of weeks for tablets to kick in properly and increased anxiety symtoms are very common when starting new medication...
when to the dr suggest you should go back in to see how the new med is going?
