im so scared i have als. i have been having fascicualtions all over for about six months or longer. when it first started it wasnt that bad. i i had been dealing with alot of anxiety and lost three jobs and could not work. everytime i went to work i allways felt like i was dying. and i had a whole bunch of other symptoms. but then the twiching started. and i ran to the er and i had been tellin my therapist about them for months. and they kept sayin it is anxiety. but here i am now six months later and now they are worse than ever. they are really bad in my legs. i have two that never go away they are there constantly. the one in my lower left leg i dont even feel half the time i will just look down and there it is movin it kind of looks like a worm just wigglin around and is sometimes hard to see. then i have one in my right leg just above my nee and that one is violent. u can see it through my clothes all day it never stops and i also get them all over my legs. my legs feel like i boiling pot just bubblin all over i get these little bubble feeling twitches all over them and the one in my lower left leg kind of feels like the muscles are pulling and i feel stiffness. i also get them in my arms like little bubbles twitches all over and they are all over everywhere else i can feel them like pulling and i will look and there they are just movin and twitching im so terified i finally went to the neuro and he ran a ncv wich was normal then a emg
wich showed widespread fasciculations all over but the rest of the test was
normal so he said i did not have als. but he is referring me to an als specialists
im so scared why is he sending me there if he thinks i dont have als
cuz he told me he is sure i dont then why is he sending me to an als specialist im terrified these twitches will not stop ive been twitching this whole time ive been writtng this but can bfs be this bad i thought bfs went away when u flexed the muscle mine dont. they are constant and u can see them trough my clothes im terrifeied they wont stop and go away. especially the two in my legs they are there 24/7 and i can just look at anytime of the day and there they are movin

I can imagine how scary it must be for you. I do not know that much about als at all. I have very "hyper" reflexes. Which if you google is suppose to always mean something bad. From MS to tumours to more. I have been sent for CAT scans and also to a neurologist. Everything was a-ok. But that doesnt explain the hyper reflexes. My doctor told me that they wouldnt find anything and that they were just sending me to the neurologist for piece of mind and I too was terrified. Turns out that I am just "wired" to have hyperreflexes. Although its rare, it can be normal and not mean anything.
The same is true with the twitches. They can be terrifying. I hate the ones in the eyes and ones that last for days in the same spots. But the majority of the time, they are normal and things are fine. Anxiety can be a huge cause. I am glad that they have not found anything serious with you and I am sure the als specialist wont either. Then the tricky part is believing the doctors.
Huge hugs to you, I completely understand your fear.

Only a few weeks ago i was in the same place as you, and thought i had ALS due to muscle twitches all over my body.

If you did have ALS, and you had been twitching for the past 6 months, i think you would of shown muscle weakness and wastage by now.

Perhaps the DR is sending you to an ALS Specalist as he just wants to reasure you.

I found that my twitches stopped by 95% once i accepted it was all anxiety. I still get the odd twitch/vibration ranging from my sholders to arms to legs and even my back. The more you worry about it the more it will occur.

Take a read of this thread i started only a few weeks ago.
