hi there, just wondering if it is normal symptom of anxiety to have thoughts and pictures of things that happened years ago pop into their head. I am getting them quite regular and they are really scaring me. They are not of any particular event, it could be something i done or dreamt of years ago. I seriously think i am going crazy and my anxiety is really out of control. please help!

Hi hun,

When I was acute, I had many, many strange thought, pop into my head, some of them I an sooo ashamed to mention, but I know now, that the thoughts where just Mrs anxiety trying to scare me, she NEEDS are fear to survive.

I can relate to pictures in away, one day eating out, my kids had gone away from the table to play snooker and hubby had gone the bar, I was left along at the talbe, when all of a sudden, fear range in me and in a split second, ohhh it only happen for a splid second, hubbys face, was in my face, (but he was not there, he was still at the bar) ohh boy, this frightend the life out of me.

If your thoughts and pictures are off past events and dreams, and they are not bad things that have happend, just good memories, I feel, this is your mind trying to distract you from any symptoms of anxiety, but for you not knowing and understanding, its scaring you.

I know for me, I need to take the fear out of these things, to see them for what they are, just memories and Mrs anxiety playing her tricks again.

In nooo way hun are you going crazy, please, please don't think this. I know its dame hard for you right now, I felt the same as you, I AM NOT crazy and niether are YOU.

If you look around the site there are lots of thread on this, I will just pop off and find you some,

hi hun i have flashbacks to scarey moments in my life too.

these get mixed with nightmares and sometimes i cant distinguish between the reality and dreams.

the hosp say i have irrational night mares because my brain is blocking something out from the past and to distract the thought it makes something nasty to blot them out.

i have been put on citalopram to control my anxious thought and help me sleep

worrying thoughts are common i believe with anx, they are the brain disracting from the thought in hand

and as to being crazy, who measures anyway? im not xx
