Hello, I've been having quick jabs of pain, sudden aches or throbs in my scalp/head once in awhile for a few months. Usually I am convinced they must be due to stress or anxiety. I had a CAT scan about 3 months ago (after hitting my head on a cupboard door) which was all clear. I tend to clench my teeth and have a stiff neck--could these things cause pains in my scalp/head? Sometimes I am worried that there really is something wrong in my brain--have heard that CAT scans don't always show everything. Does anyone else have these symptoms due to anxiety? Should I be worried?

I have damaged neck which causes very tense mucles and I have all your symptoms - so tense muscles from any reason the biggest being anxiety can give you all sorts of weird and frightening head symptoms. I get anything from the sharp zap pains to crawling sensations to a feeling as if one side of my face has dropped when it looks normal and its all down to nerve irritation and muscle tension.

YOur neck will ache if you are tense which leads to all the other symptoms.

I get these as well,I get wierd pains in my head and always on one side.Recently I have had other symptoms of vertigo and am thinking of going to the docs tomorrow for reasurrance I don't have neck tension as far as I know and these pains sometimes are on the top of my head like a feeling of pressure and others on the side. It feels dull and throbs and I have driven my husband mad with thoughts of tumors and things,it's the thought of scans and other awful things the hospital might do if I keep harrassing the doc.
You are not alone !!

Hi
I recently posted a thread saying the same, I get these shotting pains that would suddenly trigger down the right side of my head, I have had neck probs for months and I have just had to live with it, but sometimes when my neck is worse these pains are worse.
I also think the worst and worry sick about scans, I had acupuncture the other day and walked down the corridor at hospital with all the scan wards, frightened me to death. I would imagine the stress and tension can cause these but they are horrible and very worrying as not like a normal headache, just shooting pains.
Hope you feel better soon,
x
