Really scared - purple tongue

Oh my god I'm so scared. I tried to explain this away by thinking I ate something purple but I haven't. I just looked at my tongue and it has purple patches down the side of it and is plae everywhere else. What could this be? I am so scared it is something awful, especially since I've had the jaw problems.

Have you been biting it in your sleep? or been eating something and you have bit your tongue? is it sore?

I am sure its nothing that will not go in a few days, but if your concerns are over whelming you, give NHS direct a ring or pop along to chemist, they are good these days and can advice.

It's tingly and sore. It looks like bruising but I haven't bit my tongue and if I had done I can't imagine my side teeth would have done this as they are vertical to the sides of the middle of my tongue. Not actually on the side of my tongue. I'm getting really worried as I am work and don't want to cause a huge scene and get people involved if I'm being stupid.
