Hiya,

I haven't had caffeine in years as it only excaserbates things but I have a lovely cup of tea called Red Bush tea. It is South African from the rooibos (redbush) plant and its very good for you and has a lovely flavour. Holland and Barratt do one called eleven o'clock tea, and sainsburys sell it. needless to say its decaf and is said to have calming properties.

Dont mess up the best things in your life, just because at present you are unsure who you are.

Hi Krakers, I don't think green tea tastes anything like PG Tips. However, Typhoo, Tesco and some others do a decaf tea. I think it has some caffeine in it but I don't count that as I don't do caffeine any more either.

I've tried Tetley Calming they're very pleasant, and I'm trying to get used to Clipper Sleep Easy before I go to bed.....fancied a change from herbal all the time...

SpaceCadet this might seem a daft question (but this is GG!) but do you put milk with it ? I did and it tasted a bit peculiar !:wacko:

I need my caffeine in the same way smokers need a cigarette! I cannot leave the house without at least two cups in the mrning and I drink several throughout the day! I used to not drink it after 5pm because I couldn't sleep but since being on meds it doesn't bother me so I drink it at night now too.
How can you guys have given it up? I get jittery, twitchy, panicky, headachey and very very nippy if i try to stop it!

Toxins, toxins, toxins.

Want to know what the 4 most angst enabling toxins are ? well if you don't, don't read on ......

Sugar
Cafffeine
Alcohol
Chocolate

Might shock a few of you, but I've givrn up 1,2 and 4 6 months ago. 3 is a black spot in my otherwise stable equilibrium.

People with anxiety will avoid most things, but the top 4 seem to grip us all. Sugar is the worst. Chocolate is at number 4 because it includes sugar and caffeine.

3 is next to go - only will power can prevail. If you think this is a joke BTW - look up the top ten stressors on google. You'll have a good search -everyone is out to sell you something.

Well, there are toxins and toxins, and then there is moderation!

I have decaf tea and decaf coffee, and what's more they are Fairtrade products. I even buy them at Waitrose most times (an employee partnership firm) so my money does not go to those Fat Cats at Sainsburys or Tesco!

As for alcohol, never been a big drinker but I actually managed to avoid it 100% for the six months of this year! This was when I started taking the 3 betablockers three times a day and so was extra careful. This summer I think I've had about 4 glasses of wine and a lager shandy LOL! I suppose I don't need the alco-fix so much as others.

So that leaves chocolate. Shall we move on? :D :D :D

I used to drink decaf tea and coffee but went to see a nutritionist recently who put me off them - she reckons they're full of chemicals. I now stick to green tea which is full of anti-oxidents and fruity ones. And of course the large slice of lemon in boiling water first thing in the morning - so cleansing. I'm not religious about it - if I'm out I'll often have a cuppa or in someone's house if there's nothing else going. Don't suppose that's going to do me much harm.

So that just leaves the chocolate (Ray!!) - I can't give up all my pleasures at once!!:D

I've given up coffee and any alcohol to help myself with the anxiety problems.
I used to live of coffee, but after quitting smoking a month ago, I figured giving up coffee would be easy!
And it hasn't been too hard at all.
I'm currently drinking lots of herbal teas, mostly peppermint tea (I'm having 3/4 cups a day. Always calms me downs and works wonders!), green tea, fruit teas, nettle and lemon (no milk or sugar though!).
I'm only a teenager, so I'm obviously not much of a drinker anyway! It might be hard in social situations, but again, if I can not smoke in social situations, I can not drink alcohol too!
Now I'm going to try and cut back on sugar, stop drinking fizzy drinks of any kind and cut down on chocolate.
It sounds like a lot really doesn't it haha.
But I'm feeling a lot better :)

Hi , I have been having decaff tea and coffee for the past 5 years because of my anxiety , however now i am under the hospital for a Varient Migraine disease,, the specialist told me to avoid caffeine because it makes the blood vessels contract causing migraine.

He told me the decaff tea and coffee still has alot of cafeine in it, because they cant get it all out and it has chemicals in it that makes us feel bad.

He told me to eat white chocolate if I have to eat chocolate because it has hardly any caffeine in it.

I agree , Redbush tea is very nice and completely free :yesyes: .
The herbal teas are nice too.
