Hello all

I just thought that I would introduce myself before I start finding my way arround the forum. I hope that you will all be able to help me.

To cut a very very long story short, I have not felt well for 6 years. It went undetected for a while (surprise surprise) and I will fill all the parts in a a later stage, but could you all just help with the main thing that is causing me a lot of upset at the moment.

It is my heart. All day long 24/7 I can feel my heart pounding not only in my chest but right rom my feet into my gums. Sometimes it is fast and sometime normal but very loud and I can often see my t shirt moving with the force[B)] of it.

I was sitting watching TV last night and all of a sudden it shot to 120 beats per minuite. This always seems to be very common after I have eaten.

Has anyone ever or has now this same feeling. and I know its awful to say but I hope someone does as I feel so alone.

Thankyou for your time.

Mandie [B)]

Welcome Mandie

You are not alone on this - we have loads of people on here with a similar thing so I am sure you will soon find their posts or use the serach facility at the top of the screen.

Have you had any tests done like an ECG?

Hi Mandie, like Nicola says have a good look around the site and you will see there are many people with similar complaints.
I take it you have had all the necessary tests at the Drs.
Im sure you will find this site super, very reassuring and makes you realise you are not alone in this.
If you get chance go in the chatroom, it is great fun. All different sorts of subjects discussed but gives you the opportunity to ask others.
Welcome :)

Hi Mandy,

Don't worry hun, many of us have had this experience....I can definitely relate. Have you checked your thyroid? Its rare, but my doctor checked mine just in case it was causing the rapid heartrate.

Two things I noticed from your post: 1 it commonly happens after eating-what is your nutrition like right now? If you're eating a lot of sugary foods, this might be contributing to your problem. Same for processed foods (pastas, white bread etc etc). Try eating more grains and whole wheat products, this may help.
2. You are taking your pulse-are you doing this regularly? I found that whenever I was concious of it and checking it all the time that it got worse. I know its hard, but try not to fixate on it. I find distracting myself with another sensation helpful (this is embarassing considering that I'm a grown woman, but I have a fuzzy teddy bear that I stroke when I'm feeling bad...concentrating on the texture helps me most of the time).

Hope this helps, I know exactly how you are feeling, you are not alone. Keep in touch, this site has helped me tremendously, and I'm sure it will help you too!

Lisa

Hello Pink Scumpy,

Glad you found your way here ..

This is extremely common symptom but as Lisa sasy you need to be checked out medically before putting it down to anxiety or panic. By saying it's been 6 years ago I would guess you have had a battery of tests.

How is your blood pressure ?

Have you already looked at your diet or tried some deep relaxation ?

Hi all

Thankyou for all the lovely support you have given already.

Yes. I have had ECG's done, 2 stress tests, numerous blood tests and 2 24 hour monitors put on.

My Thyroid came back borderline and not long ago when like many others I ended up in A & E the doctor on call was the thyroid specialist and he said I was a good case but although my thyroid was borderline, they have been in no rush to see me. (said an appointment would be sent in about 4 months).
[V]

I have good days but the bad seem to be weighing out those lately. I also like many others have not been able to leave the house. Which was very difficult as I had a 3 month old daughter at the time and a 2 year old and 6 year old That was 6 years ago now.

I suppose I have come a long way since then at a very slow pace but it all keeps rearing its ugly head back again. Its the case of 2 steps forward 24 back. I am on propanolol beta blockers to help with the palps and anxiety and have been for about 4 years now and also venflaxetine an anti depressent that I have been on for 5 years.

Thanks for letting me vent

hi Mandie,

It always takes ages to get an appointment. It's annoying but I guess it's just the way it is. Good luck with it all!!

Hi Mandie,
Just read your reply to my post about ectopics as well as this one. Do you have palpations as well as the ectopics/missed beats? I sometimes feel my pulse racing but I can cope quite well with that, its the ectopics that scare me because you feel your heart missing the beat and then catching up!!!

I have never let the anxiety stop me from getting out, that must have been really hard for your with young children. How are you now? Do you know if anything triggered your anxiety, and if so have you though about any counselling?

Please feel free to PM me if you want to talk some more. I will try to help if I can, the only thing I can't cope with are my ectopics!!![8D]

Take care and welcome to the site,
Love,

hi mandie,
welcome to the site!
Do you drink much caffeine or alcohol? i find both of these get my heart going a bit, so i've cut them out just to help keep me as calm as possible.
take care,
