Hi Meg,

It's the first time I post here. I was reading one of your replies under a post from Jules. I was shocked to read all of the anxiety symptoms! All of my symptoms but one were posted there. Here's what I would like to ask you. Is ear fullness an anxiety symptom? And also, where do you get all this knowledge from?

Ì've been suffering from anxiety and panic for 6 months now. It started very abruptly as I was hit with sudden intense vertigo. I really thought I was dying. Even now, I wonder how I manage to stay alive for 6 months. I dont really feel I am improving. I have many many symptoms but now I just cant tell if its anxiety or inner ear. They are so interrelated.

Let me know what you think of the ear fullness. Thank you for the anxiety symptoms list, it made me feel somewhat normal.

Hi Sarah

I used to suffer a lot with my ears and sometimes when I used to panic I didnt know if it was a symptom of anxiety or something wrong with my ears.

I actually damaged my ear trying to find out by sticking a cotton bud right in my ear and damaged the middle ear by doing so.

I made an appointment with ear nose and throat at the hospital to rule anything out, and it turns out that it was just the panic attack that was making me feel like that.

I advise that you should get your ears checked out. Your ears play a big part on your balance and excess ear wax or infections (you mentioned virtigo) can cause you to feel dizzy, sick etc...

There is also a good magazine about virtigo (also called meanares disease) - dont know how to spell sorry - called spin (i think)

Hi Sarah,

Welcome to the site.

I am a healthcare professional who had panic and anxiety.

I'm thrilled that I am pretty much over that all now. Whilst I was recovering I was really open about it all and I met so many people who either were struggling themselves or knew people with problems and asked me to help them . To cut a long story short , I ended up seeing some people as a favour and then progressed to running anxiety management courses, which I used to hold once a month.

Now , I'm working on a larger scale project to do with anxiety and panic.

I've not only read extensively but have also now got lots of experience of people who have been there.

Regarding your ear - go and get it checked and if it all comes back clear then accept that it's anxiety.

I've heard of people complaining of ears being full when they're wound up and for a few hours afterwards -(but not totally constant) especially those who get a head band headache, but ears are such delicate, intricate things it's as well to get it checked out.

Hi Meg,
I too get a lot of pain in my ears or behind my ears. I also have had my ears checked at the ear, nose and throat clinic which all came back fine. I also suffer a lot of headaches and for the last 6 months migraines do you think that this is possibly causing mine too?

Also meg, I dont know if you saw my message to Lucky yesterday about my migraine symptoms... could yo tell me if you feel I should be worried about my symptoms or not? only if you can i really would appreciate it. I have now had a migraine for 4 days and I am worried I may have a brain tumour, stroke, epilepsy or something..

Can you help?

Dear All,

I don't mind giving advice and general suggestions but I am not a doctor and even if I were, I do not know you, your past medical history and most importantly cannot see you to examine you !!

That being said

epilepsy presents as a fit - not as headaches
Stroke presents as a weakness somewhere not as a sole headache without other accompanying symptoms
Brain tumour - without other symptoms - highly unlikely to be such a sudden onset

If you haven't had your eyes tested recently - please do so.

There are new meds out for migraines these past couple of years and there are specialist migraine clincs. See your doctor for a referral if you're that worried and in such pain.

Much anxiety is held in the lower part of the head , neck and shoulders. try getting a professional massage. It can do wonders.

Think thats covered them all...

That's totally fine.

I certainly don't mind helping and I've got lots of experience to draw on but will tell you my limitations !! Diagnosis is one of them.
