Hi. I'm Graham, and I've recently developed an eyesight problem which has left me feeling vulnerable and subject to panic attacks in certain environments, the first of which I had on the way home from the eye hospital and the latest, today. I've had, and surmounted, an open space phobia in the past (1982 or so) with the help of the NHS clinical services but sadly the roots of the problem don't seem to have been dealt with.
I've had to give up work which I would otherwise would have enjoyed (refurbishing computers) because I couldn't cope with the location (on an industrial estate high up above the town). For now I'm trying to get some work in a location I can cope with.
It's good to be here though amongst people who know just how bad this is. I'll try to be friendly to others and may even offer help if I can when I'm feeling stronger but in all honesty I'm not really here to socialise and I don't think it's appropriate anyway when we're all feeling vulnerable.
I'm open to alternative remedies although I'm also sceptical about their effectiveness; I tried EFT (the Emotional Freedom Technique), for example, which I've found useful in other situations and it seemed to make things worse.
Thanks for reading this anyway.
