If I had to sum the film up I would say it was at times funny and sad as well as thought provoking , in a word ‘endearing’ well worth watching this one.
I watched it myself twice.! :hugs:
I watched a great film a couple of months ago but cant remember the name of it....it starred Will Smith and his son and was based on a true story....it was a very inspiring and humbling film...definitely 10 out of 10....if I remember the name of it I'll let you know...or if anyone else knows please put me out of my misery lol!

Watched The Dark Knight yesterday ..... 10/10 but had i known it was quite so violent i'm not sure i would have went to see it. Friends and family have also agreed that it should be rated at more than a 12 certificate. Deffo not a film for those of a nervous disposition but my desire to see Heath Ledger in his final role made me overcome my fears.
'What's Eating Gilbert Grape?' Loved it! Intelligent, funny and moving. Also interesting to see a film which shows the pressures that young people who have to care for family members are under. It's from the early 90s, I think, but very very good.
Also saw Napoleon Dynamite recently... very sweet and funny, I loved the character of Pedro. xx

10 - 10 Masterpiece
Film called "Malice" came on a free DVD today with the Mail on Sunday.
Surprisingly good.
Beyond the Sea - film about the singer Bobby Darin, starring (and written, produced, directed) by Kevin Spacey. Spacey reportedly did all the singing himself. Good film.

The last film I watched was life is beautiful - an Italian film about a charming man with a wonderful sense of humour, whose life and family are put into jeopardy by world war 2 and the holocaust.
This film is fantastic, I haven't stopped raving about it since I watched it - 10/10! However it is a tear jerker, but worth it all the same!
Also I would recommend any of the studio ghibli films - such as spirited away or princess mononoke. They are Japanese anime films, with fantastic plot lines and beautiful animation.

I saw "The Duchess" week before last and I personally loved it. I did not realize it was based on a true woman Georgiana, Duchess of Devionshire, a relative of the Spencers of Althorp. I would give the movie a 8 out of 10. Fantastic costumes, great acting and a history lesson!
Laura
You don't mess with the zohan. gave it a 9 out of 10. love adam sandler :D
Fracture, starring Anthony Hopkins. 10/10
A brilliant film, full of suspense & mystery, the way Hopkins character plays mind-games with the cocky young lawyer, goading him & winding him up, is genius. Nice twist at the end.
Highly recommended.
The Karen Carpenter Story - 10/10 but then I am biased because she is my hero and inspiration :shades:

I really enjoyed that film too. She had the most beautiful voice.
Have you also seen "Lady Sings The Blues", the Billie Holiday story?
just recently watched 'the mist' it's a film based on a stephen king novel. i highly recomend it and would give it a 9 out of 10:yesyes:
Hi, i also just watched the mist last night it didn't get good reviews but I thought it was ok an 8/10 for me,
then i also watched Wanted which was excellent with plenty of action 10 out of 10,
but i did go to the cinema with my daughter to see High school Musical 3 ( the things you do ) and i thought it was defo not as good as the other two 5/10 xx
Is anyone going to see the new James Bond film? I'm seeing it today!!
I saw Eagle Eye last week, was awful. Give it about 3/10.
Saw Burn after Reading as well that was a little better, in fact it was really good! A strong 7!!
xx
Just a quick note, Quantum of Solace was GREAT! Hardly a spare seat and definitely worth seeing! xx
Beyond the Sea - The story of the 1950's singer Bobby Darin.
Written, Directed, Produced, & Starring Kevin Spacey (who apparently is a big fan)
Spacey did all the singing in it too.
It had a few quirky moments, but was very good. 7/10
Belfast, 8/10. The young boy made the film his own........ He will go far.

The last film I watched was called Chappie. It's a sci fi film but it's quite funny and thought provoking. Basically, criminals got their hands on AI robot and corrupted it. I rarely give a film top marks but this one deserves a 9.
Is there a book thread to?
