citalopram - sorry for dumb question but..

Hi All

I've been prescribed this at 10mg and have been taking it for the past 5 days in the evening, so far I feel no change - I know it takes a while but is this a starting/normal dose? I'm assuming I'll have to take this at leat another 3 weeks to see if it will have any effect? Problem is I feel so low that I'm losing faith in anything being to help.

Hang in there with it.

Ive been on, same dosage, and it has helped me immensley.

Other people noticed the difference in me before I did.

Even now I realise things that I dont get worked up about, like I did b4.

Stay with it. Im sure it will help.

Hi JB,

10mg is usually the starting dose to minimise any side effects.After 10 days I increased to 20mgs and felt a huge difference.Unfortunately things keep happening in my life to knock me back and now after 11 months I have gone up to 40mgs.
If I were you I'd discuss this with your gp and ask about an increase.Keep us updated and take care.
