Define agoraphobia..

I thought i was agoraphobic, not being able to travel any distance from home, always having to have someone with me...scared to go out alone, but i read others on this forum saying they have agoraphobia yet being able to fly goodness knows how many hours to other countries on holidays etc, alot of people i read are able to hold down a job time job, which obviously means they can go out alone. I live 20 minutes from a major airport and i couldn't get there, let alone ON the plane!!!!

So what exactly IS agoraphobia?
