hi, dont really know what to write about this so excuse me if i babble. I have anxiety, panic and am agoraphobic, i have the usual symptons, but the dry mouth one is the one i find hardest to cope, sometimes my mouth is so dry that i think my tounge is swelling so that i get to the extent that i am actually measuring it! I am so ashamed of myself when i do this and i usually only do it when i am on my own but now i am doing it infront of others aswell i am just a total embarrassment, i know deep down that my tounge is the same size as it always is and i should know cos i have acutally put a mark on the ruler i use to measure it and it doesnt get any bigger or smaller needless to say. I get so bad with this sometimes that i keep thinking that there must be some medical problem above the panic this is so unpleasant and frightening. I have been to the doctors and i am waiting to a a cognitive behavioural therapist .

Hi Sharon, how unpleasant for you. Dry mouth is a common symptom of nervousness and anxiety, I get it when I'm v. nervous. My advice would be to keep yourself well hydrated, regular sips of water, but of course the thing that will really help is not thinking about your tongue all the time and not feeling so anxious. Really hope the CBT works out for you, good luck :winks:.
