For the last week my ears have felt very clogged up and full of pressure, its been mainly my left ear so I went to the GP yesterday incase it was an infection and he said the left ear had some congestion but nothing he could do. He said my scan report showed mild to moderate sinus disease so to just live with it as most of us have that probably but don't get much pain or don't worry about it. Yes I know I worry about my health but I am dealing with it with CBT and doing ok but this sinus issue isn't easy to deal with when I am in discomfort every single day and I feel no matter what I do it doesn't get any betterhttp://www.baby-greenhouse.co.uk/smilies/sad.gif

ENT said to go back in 3 months and he will re scan me and see how things are, that seems ages away. I have got worse in the last week, today ive pain in left cheek area, and pressure in left ear. I am using my steroid spray daily, sinus irrigation twice daily and having accupuncture. I am doing all I canhttp://www.baby-greenhouse.co.uk/smilies/sad.gif I have had allergy testing and am avoiding foods I am allergic to.

GP & ENT have both done their best to reassure me that complications such as brain infections (meningitis) are very rare and happen when a bacterial infection is present and left untreated and then spreads into the fluid around the brain. They say I have more chance of winning the lottery than this happening yet I still am very concernedhttp://www.baby-greenhouse.co.uk/smilies/sad.gif They have also told me to just look out for green mucus and a fever which I don't have.

From when I have read on the internet about chronic sinusitis it says it requires anti bs which I have not been offered at all. It also says the symptoms are mild compared to acute sinusitis which I also don't understand really. ENT hasn't explained it to me in much detail, just told me to plod on.

I find it hard dealing with this pressure/pain every day and the anxiety it causes it stopping the CBT from completly working which is a shame because I am doing really well but I just can't get over this 1 hurdle because of the rare complicationshttp://www.baby-greenhouse.co.uk/smilies/sad.gif

I am sorry to post here, just needed to get it all off my chest. I don't know anyone who has chronic sinusitis to get support from about it, I just feel at my wits end, I am doing all I can yet I feel worsehttp://www.baby-greenhouse.co.uk/smilies/sad.gif What else can I do?

Hi Libby,

I've had allot of simular problems its for sure not very pleasant. Anyway, might sound a bit gross , but it has worked for me. Fill up your sink with hot water and menthol crystals, put your head in the sink with a towel over your head, and inhale the steam. The gross part try to sniff up the flem , then spit it out through your mouth. Like i say it all sounds a bit nasty but i can assure you its worked wonders for me. Do it aleast once per day in the morning after a few days you should notice some difference.
