Hi, I have been diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and was first put on Paxil, but discontinued it in a week due to severe side effects. Then I was put on Lexapro but first time I took it I was experiencing mania. After that I was put on Seroquel but also was having side effects. Then the doctor finally put me on BuSpar which I have been on for 5 months at 30mg a day. Lately I have been experiencing lightheadedness all the time. Half the time it feels like I am going to pass out right out of the blue. I wake up in the middle of the night light headed.
When I first started having panic attacks It was 3 weeks after I broke my arm. Then it was all down hill from there. I felt like I couldn't even control my mind anymore. I went to the doctor like 4 times a week for a month thinking there was something wrong with me. I felt like I was having a heart attack many time.
BUT.... Now the first symptoms of a panic attack for me is a lightheadedness and dizziness.
anyone else have these symptoms?????

thankyou

I had the lightheaded and diizy feelings for several years when suffering with acute anxiety and panic.

It does go in time and relaxation will help it a lot.

hi there,

I have lightheadedness and dizziness quite often. I think they are two of the most commom side-effects of anxiety/panic attacks. Thinking you are going to have a heart attack is also quite common..

Hi Brandy

Lightheadedness and a pounding heart beat are very common symptoms of anxiety. I get these a lot - especially the thumping heartbeat. Sometimes it really drives me nuts.

Lightheadedness is caused by over breathing. Learn to breathe slowly and deeply and this will help the lightheadedness to go away.
(It can also be a side effect of your medication until you get used to it.)

The thumping heartbeat is caused the the bodies natural reaction to run away or to fight what is frightening you.

Love, light and Best wishes
