Hi, I have recently been suffering from anxiety over the last few weeks [/URL], which has been getting worse. constantly worrying, tight throat, constantly finding it hard to breathe, and worse of all constantly thining about it. its horrible. i also have asthma (http://www.nomorepanic.co.uk/), so that doesnt help with the [U]panic attacks (http://www.uncommonforum.com/glossary/panic-attacks.html).

i went to the doctors twice, thinking i had a chest infection, but was told its more than likely anxiety. i dont wanna go back again, and ask for meds to help me through so i was wondering if anyone knew of any remedies, or herbal medicines (http://www.uncommonforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=461326#)??

thanks

dan

Hi Dan

You are not alone in worrying that anxiety symptoms are signs of a real illness, as you will see from all the posts on this forum.

If you are looking for herbal remedies have you read the Herbal Remedies (http://www.nomorepanic.co.uk/NMPcms.php?nmppage=remedies) section of this site? There is some good advice there.

I would say just make sure whatever you try is ok with other medications (if you are taking any). Rescue remedy is pretty good for use as and when necessary.

HI Dan, is there anyway you can just take some time to re-group, do some things that interest you to make you feel more relaxed and to prevent you thinking about the tightness in your throat. Maybe taking your mind off it for a bit will help. Maybe try a new hobby, something that distracts your mind for a bit. You will probs find you will forget all about your throat!

Hi i suffer from anxiety and panic attaks and i think i first started because i have an awful mam and dad. I get myself worked up into such a tizz that i get all the usual symptons like chest pain, breathlessness, dizzy etc.
Today i went for a massage from a remedial masseure and i get one of these every three weeks. she couldnt believe how uptight i was and when examining my muscles around my side and ribs, she told me no wonder i have been having chest pain as the band of muscle running from my uptight shoulders runs along the same path as my heart.

She has shown me a way to try and calm myself down when experiencing these pains and symptoms.

Try a bit like humming one of the vowels, whichever one you can do best with and concentrate on the pain and how it is slowly going to relax.

Havent tried it yet but im deffinately gonna give it a go.

Good luck!:yesyes:
