I do get migraines at times. Don't know much but i suppose if stress triggers them and having a nightmare can be very stressful, then it could be true.

I've also read that excessive dreaming or nightmares can stop you having proper restful sleep so if you're tired that will increase the risk of migraine.

A neurologist once told me that stress management is a good idea if you're having migraines.

Hi

I have had some bad migraines in the past and I can say that I have often had prolonged stress or lack of sleep beforehand. I haven't associated nightmares with them, but I suppose it is a possibility, especially if you are having disturbed sleep.

I have suffered from migraines for 30 years. I personally have many triggers such as certain foods, allergies, weather (rain or snow), hormones and stress. I must also say that lack of sleep has also brought on migraines and can't say if nightmares have as I do not recall most of my dreams or nightmares.

In my twenties I used to get most of my migraines on the weekends and my doctor contributed it to that when I would relax and somehow letting loose of the tension would bring on a migraine. Never made sense to me but that is what a certified Neurologist told me. It helps to keep a journal of what you eat, times you sleep, weather, etc., and then you might see a pattern of what brings on your migraines. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi hun :D:hugs:

I have only had a few migraines in my life and ohhh boy, they were bad, the symptoms are horrible, I feel for myself, it was stress that brought mine on, not had one in along time, so I count my blessing, it must be sooo hard for people who suffer these all the time, my heart goes out to you all :hugs:

Laura is sooo right, try keep a journal to see if you can see a patten, I know that stress can bring them on ,so yes, having a nightmare can be very stressfull and may bring on a migrain, just my opinion.

YOU TAKE CARE

Hi. I was hospitalised last week due to a migraine. I was in so much pain that I couldn't even open my eyes and I thought I was going to die. This was the worst migraine attack of my life. I get bad headaches almost daily, and suffer migraine regularly due to constant anxiety. A lot of it has to do with being so anxious that the back of my neck is usually very stiff and the muscles in my jaw and scalp are also very tense for most of thew time. I am also very sleep deprived which I know can make migraines far worse.

I've just started to deal with migranes and they are pretty terrible. The tendancy is hereditary and both my mother and father suffer. I get them from stress, but the other night I had a really bad dream and woke up with a migrane. I hate the medications for them. I know that the most popular in here in the United States is Imitrex (Sumatriptan Succinate), but I'm unable to take it for the side effects. It make you feel like you have so much tightness in your chest and shoulders and its hard to breathe sometimes. I went the hospital about it and they said that it was normal:(

Hi Melvin
Ive just had what i assume is a migrain (according to my husband anyway)???
Flashing zig zag lights over my right eye which has caused me to loose bits of my sight, a bit like gaps when i try to look at something i cant see all of it.
And i feel totally disorientated..im having to really concentrate on what im writing, and now my head feels like a ton weight and im getting an awful headache. I pity anyone that sufferes these things a lot as its paniced me big time. I have been sleeping really badly over the last 2 weeks so maybe this is whats triggered it, if it is a migraine?

Yes they can bring them on. I have woken up with an aura few times.

I get severe panic attacks when I get migraines.

The only thing that gets me through is my hubby's phyiscal comfort. He literally holds me through.

I have a long list of things I avoid.

wow, i dont feel alone now. I have had my headaches for over 4 months now. i am 25 and was made redunadant and lost my grandfather last year. i then started a new job which i did not like, i got stressed out and my headaches began, 7 months into my role, i decided to leave as i could not cope with my headaches, i was so worried as i did not know was wrong. I had an mir scan and that came back clear and that they put it down to migranes. they advised me to have massage, acupuncture or meds. I am regularly seeing an osteopath as i have a great deal of tension in my neck and head and jaw (by the ear), i also have visited a homeopath and take some natuaral remedies. I still have these headaches and am due to start a new job on the 22nd june so i really want them to go. i have stopped taking my sumatriptan tablets as they make my neck really stiff and cramped, and make me extremely moody and tired. just want pain to go away

Just thought i would add my tuppence worth to this thread and also for some advice
I have just been diagnosed with occular migraine, the first one I had approx 2 years ago triggered a massive panic attack as I did not know what was wrong with me, I have had about 4 -6 since then, they have caused or certainly added to my depression and anxiety as they really frighten me, I had one on Friday and was terrified that I was having a massive stroke or something very sinister, so I can sympathise with the lady who said they bring on panic attacks, basitically what I want to know has anybod dy suffered with them for years mine started at 40 and wise old mother is saying that it is probably hormonal I was on my period on Friday I also get weird nightmares, wake through the night and I am permanently exhausted.

I am on 20 mgs of Citalopram to help de pression and panic I feel as though my whole life has fallen apart since 2008 I have lost a brilliant well paid job (I was going through hell at work and there were lots of problems) has anybody made a recovery from these things and gone back to normality or learned techniques to stop them I have sat looking at the Liverpool Echo the last few nights and there is everything from hynotherapy to colonic irrigation saying that they can cure migraines.

sorry for the ramble just needed to get it out.

Debbie
