Hi, everyone. My name is Kate.
I am a 14 year old with severe emetophobia. I will have panic attacks if I wake up not feeling well, I will have panic attacks around little children and I will have panic attacks in any public place. Especially theaters, restaurants, etc.
However, my parents do not believe that I have emetophobia and keep labeling it as a irrational fear, other than an actual phobia.
It stems from when I was six years old. I got severely sick, to the point where I had to go to the doctor because I wasn't keeping anything down...Ivs, shots, you name it. From that day on, I became insanely afraid of being sick. I had some symptoms of it as well when I was much younger, but it finally spiralled out of control into a fullblown phobia when I was about 8. I have had severe panic attacks every week since then. :( I'm looking for some support, and I'm reaching out for others like me.
