I'm sorry, its me again. really bad time again. am still suffering from chronic tinnitus which only started 6 wks ago after I had to have my nose cauterized from persistant nose bleeds. Am so fed up with living with this fear all the time. My GP seemed to think I should go back to ENT consultant for a scan. Went a week ago and he was awful, just ended up signing me off as it all being caused by anxiety, wouldn't take me seriously at all, no scan or anything. Like an idiot started googling today and everything comes back to it being caused by some sort of nasal cancer. sure my nose is starting to feel blocked. So so very scared, what if I've got this cancer in my nose and no ones taking me seriously???:weep: due to start IVF as soon as reach top of waiting list, can't believe all this is happening now. feel awful, feel like crying all the time, don't feel like doing anything, don't know what to do.
please has anyone been through anything similar? can't cope anymore :weep:

Hiya I use to suffer with nose bleeds really bad. Once it didn't stop for about a hour so I had to go hospital to get it cauterized. Mine use to come out of the blue I had to carry tissues round with me just in case it would start. The worse ones was when I was stressed.

:hugs: Your nose is fine huni. Please dont read things up (that is so much easier said then done) I know we look up things to make us feel better. but it makes us worse. if you ever need to talk just PM me x

Hello pink,

I do know how awful it can be when we feel convinced there is something terribly wrong, and how difficult it is to be reassured. Since you have already had your nose cauterized, because of the constant nose bleeds, i am most certain that anything sinister would have been picked up at that time. Although the ENT consultant wasn't very sympathetic, at least you know he is a specialist, and no doubt he reacted that way because he absolutely knows without a shadow of a doubt, from having treated you before, there is nothing to be worried about. What a pity he was unable to respond in a more understanding way; a few reassuring words go a long way. Unfortunately some people do not understand. Please try to be positive. Hugs Rosie

Hi Pink

We all know what it's like to be fed up with the constant worry that health anxiety brings. It's horrible and very upsetting.
I would say you have nothing to fear about your nose, it's certainly isn't cancer. Remember that the ENT specialist would have seen exactly what's going on when he saw you before but he should have been more reassuring when you went back. He most definately wouldn't have sent you home without a scan if he wasn't 100% sure there was nothing to worry about.

I think you're anxious because you are preparing for your IVF, this is great news so concentrate on that and hopefully you will forget all about your nose.

Good luck and take care x

poor poor you - I really feel for you, as I also get a nasal cancer fear (as well as many others, I confess!)
But, let's look at this calmly......
1)Nose bleeds are very common, nose cancer is very rare.
2) You tinnitus came on AFTER you had your nose cauterized, which suggests it is either to do with the procedure itself, or anxiety, since tinnitus is a classic anxiety symptom..... as is blocked nose (also your imagination will be running wild)
3)Didn't you say your bleeding improved after the cauterization (even if it didn't stop altogether) ? That would suggest the consultant's diagnosis was correct. If the bleeding was from a cancer higher up in your nose, cauterization would not have had any affect at all.
4)Your consultant probably has a very good reason for believing you do not have nose cancer. He probably had a better look than you think.....

But worrying isn't healthy, so if you need more reassurence, go back to your GP and ask to see a different consultant....
Hope you feel better soon!
