hi there if i were you i would stick with the tablets and change your doctor he sounds awful and maybe could you think about telling the others you work with what you suffer from but not go into too much details if you dont want them to know it might help. i used to tell no-one that i had anxiety/panic attacks as i suppose i thought they might think i had the lurgy or something but since telling the people i want to know its really helped.
doctors can be really unsympathetic at times once when i had a really bad spell of panic i went to the doctors and was having an attack and suggested getting me put in hospital which made me ten times worse and if she had read my notes would of realised that, but then again some docs are great is there anymore at your docs practise?
hope i have helped pm me if you ever want to chat![^]

Yes, change your doctor!

I got a lot of this crap from them too, especially a few years ago, when my problems were only occassional.

You will find that many GP's don't "do" mental illness or anxiety too well.

However, they could refer to you other specialists who deal with anxiety, and maybe you ought to ask your new doctor for such a referral.

Hi Mili,
I agree with the others try to change your doctor, if you have not got a female doctor, see if you can find one , i have found that they are a lot more understanding. Dont come of the pills without the doctors advise though as that can sometimes make you feel so much worse.

Hi Mili,

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with your doctor :(

It just seems like the luck of the draw - some doctors seem to be able to deal with the condition well, whereas others dont seem to want to know.

Ive been lucky and have a fab doc - not my registered one, but its the only doc i could see in an emergancy at my surgery when i was at my lowest.

I agree - Keep taking the tablets as if you dont come off them properly you could feel a lot worse.

Also request to see a different doctor at the surgery - and again and again until you are happy with one.

Haope things start to improve.:D

How long have you been taking valium and betablockers regularly?

So ,are you ok when at home or about and about or not working with these particular people ?

[8D]in reply to your question about my tablets i have been on diazepam since january of this year and the beta blockers since 25th may this year ,i have had another panicky day at work again today. i am thinking about claiming for stress related issues at the shop were i work because it seems worse when i am at work.i have worked there for 25 years and am treated just like a beginner when i know full well how the job is done and can do it but feel undermined by the manager and under manager who i taughthow to do there jobs.

Some doctors haven't a clue and just think your kidding on.

I went to the doctors about a 6 weeks ago, not my usual one as he was on holiday, but this older doctor who was filling in. I sat and told him the problem i've been having with a burning/itchy tongue which i've had for a while, he looks through my record and says " you've been here twice with this before WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?" well "Wh*t The F*uck" what an answer, didn't know whether laugh/cry/or belt him !

Total waste of time, some doctors are terrible....next time i'll go to my usual doctor and if he's not available i'll not go at all!
