Hi All

All the people I know who have bad anxiety seem to be the youngest in the family. I am interested in if this is a common trait.

My wife is one of four girls though and her youngest sister suffers from anxiety too- the only one in her family.

I Do think that if I had a brother or sister (older) it might have prevented me getting anixaty. :unsure:

I'm the oldest. My younger sister doesn't have anxiety. But then neither do my parents.

I'm the youngest.

I saw a programme on the theory behind this. They said that alot of leaders are often first borns because they develop a lot of self confidence whereas alot of youngest borns have little self confidence due to a variety of reasons.

I can understand the reasoning and why it's probably true in alot of cases but I feel alot of different factors can also cause someone to develop anxiety problems such as a persons make up, upbringing, events, stress etc.

I did find the theory interesting though as it could explain some of my own problems.

I'm the youngest( son) of 4 children. The eldest- my sister, I'm sure, has some anxieties too but not to the extent I do

In many ways you could say I am a only child. My sister was 12 when I was born. It broke my heart when she she moved out of the house when I was 7 years old. I lost contact with my sister for lots of years. Then one day we were told that she had died.

I'm the youngest of three girls. The middle sister suffers from depression and mood swings amongst other things, so not sure what relevance that has.

Very Interesting so far. Is it more prevalent in the last child (youngest), I am not sure but it seems to be in the lead.
