Dreading the weekend...my lung is bad!

Hello all...i'm so glad i found this site.
Weekends are scary enough for me because my first thought is that the doctors are closed and i may need one. The thing is now i have a genuine lung problem. There has been pain in my ribs for around 4 weeks, the doc thought i had peurisy (after going 3 times). I took a 7 day course of anti biotics and it was still the same so today i went back to my gp.
He listened to my chest and said he could hear something on my lung so he sent me straight to the hospital for an xray. At this moment i felt a sense of relief because i could finally find out what was wrong with me. I had the xray and the woman wouldnt give me my results...she said it would be faxed to my gp and its likely to be next week...how could she do that to me? :ohmy: I'm panicking more than ever now...im thinking there may be a blood clot on the lung or something...im so scared why couldnt they just tell me, surely they looked at it? Do you think they have looked at it and thought it wasn't serious?
Don't know what to think or do now :weep:

Hi and I'm sorry you are scared at the moment. Don't think the staff at X-ray are allowed to divulge. However, if there was a chance it was serious I think they would have contacted the gp sooner rather than later and you would have heard. Anything as serious as a suspected clot I think they would have had a specialist opinion right away. Hope you hear all is well soon

Hi, i had a similar problems a couple of years back...id had a really bad chest infection and got sent up the hospital for a chest x-ray. Im pretty sure its normally the case that if the radiograper checks it for anything that stand out, then a doctor at the hospital has a look too....im sure if they had spotted something that needs to be delt with quickly im sure they would have had to do more tests there and then. Its really not nice having to wait though :(

If it had been a blood clot on your lung you would have been in hospital now.

Yes all your answers are the logical one's lol thats the way i should be thinking. Just that i have had DVT before...4 years ago. Plus my best friends uncle just died of a blood clot on his lung without any warning at all, he just collapsed and died. Thanks for replies all.

a chest x ray can not tell if there are clots in your lungs only a ct scan can i got told this as i have bilictral clots on both side of my lungs and now am on warfrin
