Dear Jobear

Rest assured they have not missed a thing! ECGs are very accurate at showing up anything wrong with the heart and if the doctor also listened to your chest and told you all is well, then believe him!

I know how short-lived reassurance can be, but try to focus on the fact that you have been examined by a specialist doctor at the hospital and found to be well. I can fully understand how a "new" pain can get you right back to square one, but the chances of it meaning that anything is wrong with you hours after a thorough examination are practically non-existent. Remember that the human body is a complicated 'machinery' with so many nerves, tendons and muscles working together - the occasional twinge, wherever it is and however sharp it is, is inevitable. I am sure we have many pains every day that we don't even notice when our minds are occupied with other thoughts, but with the heightened focus of our HA, we are acutely aware of every little pain. Then our anxiety multiplies the signifcance of it bya million and off we go - a whole new worry and a vicious circle that is so difficult to break.

I do know where you are coming from, though - on so many occasions after an examination I have remembered something else I should have mentioned and then worrying that omitting that information did not give the doctor the vital clue he needed to diagnose whatever dreadful thing was wrong with me. Needless to say, that has of course never been the case!

Jobear, your specialist doctor using specialist equipment has found everything to be normal. Now go an enjoy your day! :hugs:

I get exactly same sharp stabbing pains as you in my chest in all sorts of places. I get them on and off for weeks then they go away for months. Every time I rush to Dr thinking it my heart. I have ectopic beats so have 24 ecg every 3 years anyway just for my own benefit not becasue I need the ecg! I have damage to my spine and the Dr's are certain that the pain is linked to skeleton/muscle system just like you. I have had these stabbing pains for years and years on and off.

I understand how scary they are as for me they are so terribly painful and last about 5-10 mins at a time.

When you were at the hospital I would think they would do blood tests?? and if they did they can do a test that would tell you if the pain was coming from your heart as a heart under strain or damaged by heart attack raises some type of protein in your blood so if your blood test is normal then your heart is not under strain for any reason.
