Hi Dee

What you're feeling doesn't seem nice at all..
I tried citalopram before for a few months and I felt very similar, out of body like you say, detached from reality, like living in a fog 24/7.
I dont know about Trazodone, its an anti depressant , right ? Maybe taking 2 anti depressants could be too much ? Have you talked to your doctor about it?

Take care.
Florence.

Hi Deeko,

It sounds like your having a case of De-Realisation (D/R), De-Personalisation (D/P). I get this reguarly, It's when you feel like your dreaming almost like your there and you know you are but you feel like your not-It's very difficult to describe. I'm affraid that it's just a symptom of Stress and Anxiety. Have you had any worries lately? Added Stress or work load? It can be quite frightning when you get D/R, I know that it is for me, try not to think about it when it happens, easier said than done I know, but it works.

You should look around this site for posts on De-Realisation as there are alot of people who get it.

As for the Trazodone thats a sleeping tablet, my doctor put me on them for a couple of days when i first started getting panic attacks so that I could sleep, I was on 3.5mg. I felt those alone left me a bit drowzy so that with the Citalipram will leave you a bit groggy in the morining if you ask me. I've only been on Citalipram 20mg for about 3weeks and find that alone has me a bit sleepy and drowzy in the morining I have been assured that the sleepyness should subside when the meds kick in properly.

Hope you start feeling better soon.

Hi Guyz, Yeah i think Trazodone is a sleeping tab, i only take a small amout at night, i dont like the sound of De-Realisation! and dont want to give my self another label! im going to see my shrink tues so will ask about mixing theres meds, if its just the Citalopram does it wear off when i get used to them.
Im off to cornwall next sat and supposed to be driving in turns with my hubby as its a 6 hour drive, i cant be feeling like this!

Take Care Dee.

Hi Dee,

The side effects of Citalopram deffinately wear off, I'm into my third week on the 20mg and am starting to feel a little bit better, they do say to give it the full four weeks to let your body adjust.

About you driving to Cornwall, I personally wouldn't take the sleeping tablet the night before as they can leave you drowzy anyways. When do you take your Citalopram? I have started taking mine about 5-6pm, that way it has plenty time to kick in before I go to bed and I sleep through most of the side effects[Yeah!]:). I find that I'm having some pretty funky dreams but I'm not soo groggy through the day. Also I have started eating a high energy breakfast, I have shredded wheat, a glass of orange juice (as vitamin C helps you body absorb all those nessisary vitamins, especially Iron) and I've started drinking Actimel. This might help stop the feeling tired through the day, I believe it's helped me a bit.

As for the D/R, there isn't anything anyone can do for that, not that I want to frighten you. Someone told me that it's you mind preparing it's self for trauma or shock so it detaches it's self from reality. I find that when it happens to me I just reassure my self that I am ok, I know I'm here and it's not going to beat me. Then I go and get on with something, it is difficult to concentrate when you feel like that but the more you ignore this feeling the more it goes away.

I hope this helps and that your feeling better for your trip, Hope you have a good time.
Take care, clairexx

Hi All, Yeah im not gunna take Trazodone or Citalopram that night, were leaving 1am, if i feel ok ill drive some of the way.
As for DP im not gunna read into it too much because it may cause me to get anxious about that! (catch 22!) if you know what i mean, getting anxious about being anxious the old vicious circle!.
