Hi all

I went to the doctors today and explained that food kept sticking in my throat and I couldn't eat any solid foods and that I was suffering from chest pain, she was very sympathetic and has referred me to an ENT specialist for a barium swallow. Has anybody else had one of these?

The appointment is this Thursday and I'm really pleased that I am being seen so quickly, I'm hoping that it will shed some light on whether there is actually something wrong or if it is just me being paranoid!

I have also booked an appointment with a hypnotherapist on Friday just in case it is me being paranoid! I am just so determined to find out the cause so I can try to overcome!

I am so pleased I found this website as people are so friendly and supportive :D

Hi Helen

I have had the barium meal amongest other things.

Its not that bad.

The stuff is pretty hard to swallow even if you don't have a problem. The nurses etc will know this so try and relax a little.

You will stand in front of the x ray machine and be told when to swallow the liquid. They then take pictures as it is going down your throat etc and that is it.

I know you are worried as i also was but at least you can get piece of mind through the results.

Will be thinking of you

Take care
