hi. im not sure if im posting in the right forum, as my question relates to bipolar. there is a lady i know who attends anxiety management class each saturday along with myself, who suffers from bipolar. unfortunatly i have very little knowledge of this disorder (i suffer from panic attacks ) but i know she is seeking any help or advice that she can get on the subject. if any one on nmp could offer any help on this subject, i will print it off and give it to her next saturday. many many thanks in advance. kind regards from henry.

Hi

The link you have posted Nic is about Borderline Personality Disorder, which can sometimes go hand in hand with Biploar.

I have Bipolar and use this site http://www.dbsalliance.org/site/PageServer?pagename=home it is an American website, but has a lot of information which is relevant to us Brits.

Hope this helps

take care xxx

Is there anyway I could find out if I'm Bi-polar, because I personally think I am, but hope I'm not, and not too keen to diagnose myself on the Internet, as I have done many of time with other problems.

Cheers.

I think the only way to get a reliable diagnosis is to see a doctor. even then it might be misdiagnosed.

Delaney are you already under the care of a psychiatrist? If you are worried that you might be bi-polar then I would ask your GP to refer you to one. There are people on this site who are bi-polar who will be able to help. Bi-polar illness is often characterised by 'highs' and suicidal 'lows'. Mood stablisers such as lithium and anti psychotics as well as anti depressants are used to manage the illness. I take lithium a mood stabiliser but I am not bi-polar.
