Hi

I am just coming to terms with my symptoms here and have spent weeks searching the web for 'joint pains', 'internal shivering', 'excessive sweating', 'sleeplessness'...big mistake, every symtpom ends in 'cancer' which has made me even more anxious!

I still am no really sure I am in the right place, here's my symptoms and hopefully some of you can relate

I have a constant feeling of impending doom..either me or someone really close is going to die

Sleeplessness and when I do nod off, awful nightmares

Awful thoughts running through my mind

Internal shaking (I dont know how else to describe this)

Joint pains, not horrific, just twinges and flutters all over my body

Sometimes breathless as if someone is sitting on my chest.

Although I dont like looking up symptoms on the web I am constantly doing so AND i keep going to the doctors for every test imaginable which is becoming quite embarrassing!

The list goes on and on and I really thought I had a terrible illness until I accepted I could be suffering from anxiety??

I actually really hope this is the case, does anyone relate to ANY of this?

The impending doom is the worst symptom of them all, It has been with me evry day for almost 2 months.

Hi Doomandgloom, :hugs:

:welcome: to NMP. It's great that you've joined. There is so much information & help here.

I can relate to the symptoms you describe. I have found that it helps to know that anxiety & panic can cause all these. It also helps to know that you're not alone in how you're feeling.

Best wishes xx :bighug1:

Thankyou for your replies,

thank goodness! the more I read on here the more I can find a little peace of mind knowing that this is anxiety...I have just made a promise to myself NOT to look up anymore symptoms on the net, its been scaring me no end. I am so glad I found this place, I feel calmer already!!:)

I have also realised I have been having panic attacks..usually when I am driving, the other day I thought I was going to faint at the wheel, pulled over at the nearest petrol station shaking in a cold sweat eating as much chocolate as I could because i just thought I had low blood pressure or somethin!

What a relief to know my symptoms tie in with something which actually isnt going to cause me to die.

Oh, you have my sympathies there... I ended up on a website the other day that when I searched on "eye twitch" gave me cancer as the ONLY diagnosis! :scared15:

From what I can gather, it really can be misleading looking up symptoms on the web: for example, I get nausea a lot, which many sites say is a symptom of heart problems. Last time I spoke to a cardio specialist, he said that's flat out not true: nausea is a symptom of an actual heart attack, not just a generic 'problem'. I s'pose my point is, don't believe everything you read on the internet! :D
