:hugs: Hiya everyone,

I am suffering from anxiety and phobia symptoms since recovering from cancer and I wonder if someone would know either the best way to find a good cognitive behavioural therapist (one that is recommended).I live in the staffordshire area and my doctor could not recommend a good psychotherapist and I wondered if there are other ways of finding one that is effective.I have looked on the internet and that gives you advice but obviously no actual names.

I would be really grateful if someone could help me with this as I feel I can no longer deal with these feelings on my own and I really need professional help and I would like to see someone who could help me through this and not make me any worse. The key is to feel safe with the psychotherapist which I suppose goes without saying.

All my very best regards to everyone

Try these:

http://www.eabct.com (http://www.eabct.com/) - The European Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapy (EABCT) is an umbrella organisation that brings together a large number of individual associations from 29 European countries. This website provides information on the individual member associations of EABCT and the activities that support them - our constitution, board of directors, congress and newsletter.

http://www.babcp.org.uk (http://www.babcp.org.uk/) - The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) was founded in 1972 as an interest group for people involved in the practice and theory of behaviour therapy.

Hi again

Sorry perhaps i should have said that the link i gave you is for the CBT register for the UK where you can find details of all the officially accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapists.

I myself found a great therapist through using this link.
Good luck. :hugs:
