Fear of what we fear brings on more fear. It is in avoidence that our fear grows.
When a person has a panic attack their ability to think logically is reduced. Their thoughts suddenly go in to overdrive and they need to get away from the place they are having the panic attack but in reality its not the place that caused the attack. But we believe it is because when we are away from where we had the panic and the attack lessens.

Agoraphobics feel the need to get to a safe place but all they are doing is feeding the fear
The panic attack sufferer is doing the same thing

Fear is not lurking outside
Fear is not waiting until we are in a shop
Fear is not siiting on the sofa waiting until night time

Because fear does not exist
Sure we feel it does but notice the word feel.
Are we always ruled and controled by our feelings? NO!!! Because if we where I would have jumped out my brothers car today and thumped the idiot who gave me the finger and then no doubt been arrested.

No matter how long we have felt this way, we can improve and we need to believe this. I know its difficult because so many have been living in fear for so long and some may have given up or feel like giving up but I want to encourage you to keep going.

When a person has a panic attack their ability to think logically is reduced.

For me that is an important point. I can spend months learning something but when panic strikes cannot remember a thing because my mind goes blank. For this reason I always have a piece of paper at hand to refer to when it gets bad because I cannot pull them from my mind. On it are positive statements of reason about my anxiety and it does help when I read them.
