Doctor wants to change my medication

I recently saw a new doctor at our practise who I get on very well with She saw that I had been on Dothiepin for over 25 years and asked if I would be prepared to try a "more modern" anxiety medication. I agreed but she said that first I must have an ECG to make sure my heart rate is normal before I can start this new drug. Has anyone else had this experience and when I know the name of this new drug should I ask on here if anyone else is on it or would other peoples' bad reports of it put me off?

Dothiepin has recently been linked to cases of toxic overdose so they are trying to phase it out.
Id suggest googling your new med and reading about it on a site that doesn't include peoples opinions as everyone has different experiences and side effects and if you are worried talk to your doctor!
