Hi where do I start, Ive been suffering with health anxiety since I had my first child 3 years ago.
My trouble is that I self diagnose within an hour of having a symtom.
In the last 3 months alone I have convinced myself I have
-leukemia
-breast cancer
-cervical cancer
-skin cancer
-bowel cancer

my latest fear being about my eye. me being me i was feeling around my eyes (only god will know why!) when i started panicking that my eye sockets felt different. I spent the best oart of 2 days prodding all around there and ever since it hurts quite bad all round my eyeball and socket. So if course I have diagnosed with a brain tumor!
The thing is it didnt hurt at all before so could it be my poking it? Could it also be because I am stressing out about it? I know im being irrational getting into a state over it but i really cannot help it,i also have a weird sensation down the side of my nose so maybe its sinus?

Please help!

Hi

Please try and distract yourself by watching your favourite programme or going out, but don't go poking around you eyes. There is nothing wrong with them and you have only made them a bit sore by the constant touching. The anxiety over it all is making it difficult for you to stop but pleased be assured that you are fine.

Hello,

Please stop worrying about having brain tumor! It has much more obvious symptoms and none of these have anything to do with pain around the eye. You might googled it somewhere (I suppose that's why you are in panic) but trust me - it's not how brain tumor starts. (Unfortunately I had the opportunity to watch quite closely the symptoms of a developed brain tumor in a small kid a few years ago but it was completely different).
If you don't want to be overwhelmed about this go and visit your doctor, it will turn out that you have some sort of an infection or you really just poked them to much.
Anxiety btw can cause all kind of weird pains all over in your body, eyes are not exception either. Also amazing how an anxious mind adopts everything you read and it can produce the exact same symptoms of an illness that you are afraid of. It happened to me many times in my "googling" years.
Stop searching your condition, focus on funnier things, laugh and smile a lot even if you don't feel like smiling - just fake it as many times as you can and your mind will switch to a less anxious thinking soon. It worked for me - so it might worth a try for you too.
But first and foremost be assured that you are fine and not having any kind of tumor! :yesyes:

I too have pain in my eye from time to time.
Suddenly it can disapear for weeks and then come back.
This is nothing serious, my doctor has explained that its alot of tension that makes this happens.

You do not have a brain tumour...........maybe a slight sinus problem but nothing to be worrying about.

What do you do when you are having problems with, let`s say, your hardware? Do you google, or you just bring your computer to a specialist and don`t make assumptions about the possible causes? :)
I have pain in my right eye from time to time. Can be anything from migraine to a sensitive nerve in that area...
I`ve noticed you associate every pain or symptom with cancer. It is not your eye, neither is your tummy, breast, skin etc. It is not cancer, it is anxiety about cancer. Time to stop and think about it. Choke your wrist a hundred times. You will immediately feel pain. Does that mean that you provoked a cancer in your wrist? Of course not. :) Now, extend this reasoning to other pains that you might have. :)
Please, stop google-ing. You know little things about symptoms asociated with cancer. Because there are many many forms of cancer, for almost every symptom you will experience, if you google, you will find a form of cancer for it. You overlook the huge list of other ailments and diseases, many of them totally benigne, that cause pain, swelling tissue growth etc.
