I know that there is a thread on this already but I have just been given 21 2mg's of Diazepam for anxiety and panic. I was told to use them only when I really needed them.

So far I haven't taken any yet. I was just wondering if anyone knows if it interacts with St John's Wort ? I've stopped taking it just in case it does.

Also does it have any strange side effects or do you still feel pretty normal ? Just having them makes me feel better but it's only a matter of time before I take one.

p.s

Has anyone had any strange effects after stopping St John's Wort suddenly ?

Thanx

Hi Blair

I have been on diazapem for 20 years!!!!!always on a low dose, very hard to withdraw from long term, have tried many timesget setback and end up where I started.Taking them just when you need them is best, they do calm youif youare really bad or have to go somewhere you find difficult. They dont make you feel odd just calm.Cant help with St Johns Wort as I havent had that.
I wish I had been told to take them just when I needed them
but they didnt know hoe addictive they were then

They will make you feel calmer and a little drowsy maybe but not bad atall.

I used to take them when I got panicky but haven't done so for over 3 years now. I do have some but don't feel the need for them.

I used to have 2mg and break them in half and just have that. Used to help me anyway.

I might just half mine too because my anxiety isn't all that chronic it's just very uncomfortable at times

Thanks :)

I was given 4 boxes full each month I went to see my GP...... (2mg tabs).

When I was really bad I was taking 4mg, 3 times a day then started taking just 2mg, 3 times a day. I stopped them quite easily and just have them when I need them now which is not very often. I didn't have any difficulty in stopping them and I was on them for a good 3 months at that dose.

I've been on diazepam for a year , taking it every day, no uncomfortable side effects, it just makes you feel relaxed and is very helpful when you're on the edge . But please, be careful, they r extremely addictive and don't take them regularly, thats when dependency starts..

Ok I took half of one last night which is 1mg just to test the water and I felt pretty tired with it. I'm tired after work anyway but this seemed to make me want to shut my eyes a bit. The plus side was I slept like a baby and have not felt much anxiety since I took it, even now. I felt kind of zoned out today but I don't know if the diazepam had anything to do with that, surely it can't affect you for that long ? I'm confident it will help out a lot if I start feeling really bad again. I'll keep you informed :)

I doubt it can affect you for that long. Glad that it has helped you feel less anxious [^]

Hi Blair

Really pleased it gave you the benefit it is supposed to and know you can be reassured that if you feel really bad you have them there if you need them.

Love Sal xx

my psychiatrist told me it can have a build up effect in the body. Therefore to fly he told me take two doses the day before and one or two on the day. stops you getting worked up in to an anxious state which is harder to recover from. it works to - I quite like flying now!

I was prescribed, one or two at night because I was having bad nightmares coming off "Effexor". I have only taken one, for one night and didn't sleep till an hour or so later and still woke up early. Maybe I needed two, but I don't really want to depend on them. I didn't feel bad the next day or anything... don't remember dreaming! They probably did help a bit.
