View Full Version : work anxiety
hi, im just at work now and having anxiety. what do you guys do to calm yourselves down and not let it get the best of you when youre at work?? any tips thanks
sorry to hear that you are feeling like this, I have had a problem of anxiety when I was out with the kids shopping. I started to feel dizzy and scared but I just kept telling myself possitive thoughts. Try and distract your thoughts. Maybe talk to one of your collegues about something totally unrelated. Just do anything you can to stop it winning. easier said than done, I definatly know this.
let us know how you've gotten on.

thanks claire, i am feeling a bit better. I went down to my car and tried to tell myself positive things. hopefully I can win this battle today
Do deep slow breathing as well - that always helps. Hope you feel better soon!! You WILL get through this so don't worry, ok? :D

I try to think of going home and feeling more secure in my known environment. I hold on to the fact that it will pass and if i still feel bad at work i can go hone and relax and get myself pulled back round.
How are you feeling now?

Dont mess up the best things in your life, just because at present you are unsure who you are.

I agree with Sal about visualising my home and allowing myself to go home when I ever I want to (use this idea when out shopping or something).
The other thing I do if I'm on the bus and not feeling good is to drop my shoulders and try and let my body slump (a little bit odd to look at probably) this does help. If you have a sitting down job perhaps you could try that one - also big favourite is constantly sipping water which is good for you anyway!

"Supposing it didn't," said Pooh after careful thought.
