Hello, I just found this site, i am so glad i have because you are all talking my language ! I have had anxiety on and of for years. Can,t work out what starts it of but when it does i can get quite bad with it. Unfortunatley my doctor is not very sympathetic and the last bout i had he gave me diazapam for a few weeks which helped, i still have 2 left for emergencys! I just seem to muddle through it after a few " health scares ". Think i have had every symptom going and just now its the feeling of impending doom. I suppose i have health anxiety at the moment anyway , i think im always going 2 get a serious illness, anyway i try and be cheerful day by day but if people knew what was going on in my head !! :)

Hi sweetness! I think I understand where your coming from. I have a messive fear of death but like you, I always think I have a terminal illness. Everytime I get heartburn I think i am having heart attack and if I have headache, I am convinced I have tumour and thats the end of me.
Can you not go back to doctors to get some more medication if it made you feel better? I am going to doctors tomorroe to try my hardest to explain how I feel. Its only my husband that knows how bad this fear of death and terminal illness is!
How did the medication make you feel then if you don't mind me asking?
Chin up xx

Hiya sweet ness,
HUGE welcome hun, you are not on your own in this.
Maybe you should go back to the doctors and explain it all so he can give you some more productive help, whether thats drugs, cbt, therapy or learning relaxation. Sometimes you may need to ask to see a different doctor or ask to be referred to a mental health specialist.

Thank you all for your welcome :) Noa, the diazapam certainly helped my anxiety but i was aware of the addictivness of them so i only took them as and when, they took the edge of it definatley and i can see how you would become dependant on them. I am on a waiting list for counselling so i will just have to wait and see if that helps. And yes if i do feel it is getting difficult to cope with or it gets in the way of my job, i will speak to my GP again. There is a nice lady doctor i will ask to see :)
