hi there, i don't suffer from anxiety but i recently went out with a guy who did. i loved him to bits and tried my best to help him but because he has anger issues and insomnia on top of the anxiety it destroyed the relationship and i couldn't cope with the pressure anymore and we split up 5 months ago. i have been left feeling like a total failure and i constantly wonder how he is and if he is having a panic attack. i feel guilty for leaving him to some degree but i was under so much pressure to help him when he wouldn't help himself and it was effecting my whole life and i have 2 kids to consider. i suggested cbt, i registered on here to talk to other suffers to help me understand it and i researched the net for lists of therapists close to where he lives but he didnt try any of these options. i am not going to claim that i understand how you guys feel suffering from anxiety because i don't fully understand it, but it would help me to talk people who do suffer with it so if you guys do meet up in south wales please let me know. i live in cardiff. thanks x

Hi everyone, I can't make this meeting but would like to introduce myself to all of you that live close. I'm a 23 y/o guy in Swansea. I have a big history of major anxiety and social phobia. The biggest issue was blushing, I would flare up in stressful situations, even if someone just said hi in the street I would go red. Whoever goes through this will know exactly what I'm talking about so there's no need for me to go into great detail.

For some reason the past year and a half I have managed to control it and now work as a waiter which can be very stressful, hot, face to face work.

I think I have thrown myself in the deep end and got a job where communicating is the key and I have over come that barrier of dealing with everyday things when talking to people. I still go red now and then an that's not going to change. If you have a tendency to go red when bending over to pick things up off the floor or even walking fast to catch the bus then that will not go away, it's just the way your body is.

I have tried many therapies , Medication etc and it did help at re time but it was not a long term thing for me, it dealt with the extreme of my condition.

I still have a bad day where I find it hard to talk to people or I have a sudden panic but I
get more good days.

Anyway the whole reason for this post is so I can maybe meet others with the same condition. I can spot people with it easy but its not appropriate to go talk to them so I'm hoping there are others in Swansea that I can relate to. Doesn't matter whether your a girl or a guy or any age. It would be awesome to meet a guy my age with the same issues but I'm sure the chances are slim.

So pleased you all came today .It was lovely to meet such lovely people and share your views/ experiances and joined us for a drink. I just hope everyone felt at ease.I no this was a big thing for all of you including myself and Sadie...a huge mile stone for us all has been over come. plan is to have the next meeting at the " pines " which is the posh name for the designer outlet village on the M4 near bridgend

plenty of places to meet either in there or at the harvester or a nearby pub

its easy access off the M4 so people from the valleys , cardiff , swansea will easily be able to drive

and if its trains then we can arrange for you to be picked up at bridgend station
