neck muscle spasms

Hi all,

I have been suffering with anxiety for less than a year and I am being treated with citalopram for this, but I am having great difficulty in relaxing the muscles in my neck, which is creating spasms, which is not helping in controlling the anxiety as I am becoming overly self conscious.

Has anybody else had a similar problem? Is there any muscle relaxants that the GP will recommend, if so what are they, and how effective are they?

I think amitriptyline can be taken at low doses as a muscle relaxant. I take it with cital. Try a massager and some essential oils like lavender

I have a nice hot bath every night and put a hot wheat pillow on my shoulders. Works wonders. I was on amitriptiline and did not find that it worked. Was only on low dosage, but more important was that i make myself relax and not leave it to some drugs.

amitripline helps with muscles depends what ur taking already though. im on them to sleep cause i refused to take anymore tablets with the side effects cant handly them.
