Hey Guys,

This isnt any dig at the website as i think its doing a great job of letting all of us sufferers communicate together.

But...

My question is:

Do you find you are on here too much and its probably making your anxiety worse? i Think i am on all kinds of websites too much trying to find cures for certain anxiety problems. My doctor and mum think i am on these sites too much and that its not helping me at all. Im on here and other sites about 3-6 hours a day....what about you guys?

Hi

Im a new member and have thought thi myself. I think the site is great and it is also great to know I,m not the only one with a HA - which is how I have felt in the past. However sometimes I know my HA makes me dishonest with myself and I can be sneaky in trying to fnd reassurance from others when I know my CBT councellor told me that I must not do this. My husband thinks I am wrong to join but at the moment it is helping me. It is alsogood to be able to try and help others. It is intersting that reading other people's post I can know exactly where their train of thought is going but can see tha if a specialist has tested and said negative then that is what it is! A very differene story when its me and I can't see the wood for the trees.

I think it's great. You can see how others are struggling with their irrational thoughts and it helps you realise that your sickness is anxiety and nothing else.
I think the kind of reassurance that is "bad" for you is when you keep going to the doctor's unnecessarily or keep asking your family members to check moles, lumps etc. t reassure you that you don't have cancer/other illnesses. While this website reassures you that yes, you have anxiety and you need help.

Amu's right. There is a difference and the reassurance is that you are not mad just anxiety stricken! There are a lot of us around. Keep your chin up

To me the site is a God send.

I have found at times, that I have felt a nuiscance on it to toehr members and things with my whining and stuff but the support is outstanding and I'm really thankful that I have found it..

And to be honest..and please don't take it the wrong way, your family should be thankful that you're on getting support from others than suffering on your own which is what I have been doing since I was about 12(and I'm now 22)

Know one really knows unless they have experienced anxiety or any disorder for that matter and that is where this site is AMAZING cos everyone knows how it feels..

The support support and knowledge from the members on this site.. is one of the best cures for anxiety. If this site didn't exist i am sure many people would find it much harder living with heath anxiety by not getting any feedbck from our fellow kind. bless this site!

This site is an amazing help to me. Just that people understand what I'm feeling is so helpful. The websites that DO NOT help me are medical sites such as WebMD, etc. and googling any type of symptom. I do think that 3-6 hours per day may be a bit much and you might feel better finding something else to keep you distracted in addition to this website like a hobby, exercising, a good book, etc. I probably spend about 20 min a day here.

this site is beyond helpful for me - just to come on here and bounce ideas off of each other.. it's not always just reassurance, it's active discussion, shared experiences .. i dunno .. just the most helpful thing for my HA.

I think it's an excellent site. The fact you can come on, ask a question or find someone else who has been through the same problems is invaluable. Google is a souless advisor and the medical sites just seem to impact your fears.
It's also very good if you need a quick reply or even just reassurance to a problem.
I think if you read something here and it causes you more anxiety, then you would probably get the same anxiety wherever you had read that information.
Plus you have all the added useful information on the left hand side of the screen.

Take care all
