Sometimes when I'm feeling anxious I get this weird irritating feeling at the back of my throat where my voice comes from, the feeling makes me want to make a noise with my voice to calm it. It's not major but it's really hard to describe, like if I was to hum something then the feeling wouldn't be there. The only time this happens is when I'm feeling tense, maybe it's something to do with the nerves in my throat being tense ???

Anyone else had anything like this ???

THis is normal reaction to anxiety or stress.

Plenty of water and sucking sweets helps

Your anxiety is the human representation of the pictures that you paint using your many vivid colours of revolving and reoccurring thoughts.

Hi Blair,

Anxiaty can cause many strange symptoms. One of my many symptoms was a strange feeling at the back of my throat, the
only way I can describe it is, it felt like I wanted to hicup, you
know that feeling the split second befor the hicup comes it was
like that, but it was there for a long time. It did not scare me
it just felt strange, it went away and I have not had this symptom
since.
Hope this helps.

TAKE CARE

WISHING YOU WELL

Hi Blair,

I too get this and find chewing gum helps it somewhat. It isn't there when I'm eating (i.e my throat is active) and I also feeling like I need to hum or cough to clear my throat when there isn't anything to clear. I've had this for about 8 months now!

hi blair,
I have had this feeling too. For years I kept going to the GP about it so in the end she sent me to the ear, nose and throat specialist. He said my tonsils were bad and I have to have them removed. This put my mind at ease until after I had my tonsils out and the same thing happened. I went back to the GP and she said its to do with your drpression etc as this can cause a reation in your throat making it feel blocked etc. So I just put up with it now by when the feeling comes drinking some water or sucking a sweet. I hope this has been some help.
take care kazo x

I have this as well. I have read that GERD can cause this and is also affiliated with high anxiety causing your stomach acids to creep up into your throat. Prilosec helps me when it gets too bad.

I've always had this when I'm nervous. I think the back of the throat gets dry.
