I think I have general anxiety since my first panic attack in December 2003. Although I was checked out medically and realise I was prone to the attack due over-indulgence at a wedding the day before, I have since become very aware of my heart's activity.

I have noticed (and now accepted) that my heart rate increases when I drink alcohol but the thing I find less easy to deal with is that my heart tends to skip beats when I have a drink. Oddly, the one time this year I got really drunk I didn't feel one skipped beat during or after the session.

This board has helped re-assure me that there are many of us who worry about our health but I wondered if anyone had had similar experiences of a skipping heart associated with drinking and, if so, what they did about it.

I avoid alcohol because I had my first panic attack after a night of heavy drinking 2 years ago. I do think it can promote anxiety but only if drunk in excess..nothing wrong with only drinking a little though..:D

There is nothing you can do exept keep to moderation.

It may be that now you are stronger you are not as prone to palpitations as when you were acute, they do wax and wane.

Have you read our site page on missed beats ?

alcohol and panic-do they mix? (http://www.nomorepanic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2409)
