My daughter's abdominal freaky thing!

My daughter is 5 years old. For the last couple of weeks, her tummy has been doing a kind of spasm, where it will go in and out almost like she is bellydancing. It's like a hiccup but without the sound. This happens constantly, all day and even while she is sleeping and occurs a few times a minute. She is not in pain and is otherwise well with no other symptoms.

The gp has referred us to the hospital to get it checked out, but we just have to wait for an appointment. It is quite freaky to watch and I am a bit worried as to what it could be.

Sounds like some sort of muscle twitching or the likes. The main thing though is that if your doctor had been concerned then he or she would have sent your daughter straight to hospital, so try not to worry.
