Update and results after my op...

Good Morning Everyone

I can't wait to share my news......

After a really horrible 6 months and a nasty operation to remove the upper right hand lobe from my lung, I fanally have some results.

Not cancer, but TB!

I have really been to hell and back, still in a lot of pain and still have the drain coming out of my back but I feel like dancing!
I will need some treatment and I am sure my family will have to be checked out too but you cannot imagine the relief as I had been totally prepared for a cancer dignosis. In fact, no-one was more suprised than the Surgeon. By the time I went into surgery on 8th May, all my paperwork stated 'probable cancer', which had changed from 'possible cancer' when I went in for a biopsy.

My ex-hubby got TB whilst we were abroad. All the family was checked, including our then 10 month old daughter. Everyone was clear. He has recovered fully. He's retired and spends most of his days walking the golf course. I'm sure you will all be fine.

I also have somebody distant in my family who recovered few months ago from TB
It is treatable and there are different forms as well.

That's amazing and really good news Peggy TB is treatable and you will recover now.

That's fantastic news, the relief will be immense. So now its a case of getting the TB treated and you'll be fine, but can I just say you've been fantastic throughout this with your positive outlook you should be very proud of yourself,xxxxxxxxx

I know it sound ridiculous, but I am delighted to have TB!

I have only been back in the UK for 18 months, after living in South Africa for 38 years, so I wonder how long it's been lurking?
In fact my Dad had TB when I was 17....29 years ago, so who knows? We were all tested at the time, but it's a real problem in Africa all the time.

Now I want to just get better and get on with my life.
I'm so exhausted from this awful journey...

My friend had TB and the doctors took 6 months to diagnose it, they thought it was cancer too. I guess it is so unusual in this country to get it, s it's not in their foreminds??

Anyhoo I digress, am SO pleased for you that you have got an answer finally and it's not what you were gearing yourself up for.

I also think that you have been amazing throughout this and are a really inspiration to many on these boards and for that I thank you Pegs!!

I am not up to partying yet...still too damn sore, But intend to rip the ring out of it on the first chance I get...

I am so pleased for you that it is not cancer. :) I know you are still unwell with TB and I feel for you having that, but at least its not cancer and you can recover.

Pegs, love you, that is so fantastic, you wouldn't believe how much we all wished for a similar diagnosis! It must be such a relief, especially after reading the "probable lung cancer" thing :huh: - amazing, great news, I am so happy for you!! :hugs::hugs::hugs:
(really weird how happy we all are about you having TB, ha ha!!)
