Hi guys,
Got to have a huge ammount of work done at the dentists on monday.
I have two problems to try to get through
1. I have had a dental phobia for as long as I can remember
2. I have to have gas and air to get it done, and being a complete control freak I am phobic of any drugs these days.I can't even drink alchohol any more because I feel, to keep control of my panic I have to keep complete control of myself.
So as you can see i'm in a bit of pickle.
I have to get it done, there's no questioning that, I just don't know if i can.
I'm terrified that i'll get there and not allow him to put that nitreous oxide mask over my face.[8)]
How on earth am I gonna manage this?

Lots of us hate going to the dentist. I think a good thing to do when you get there is speak to the dentist about how you're nervous, etc. This way, he will normally be more gentle. Good luck!! :D

The Dentist are used to people being panicky there,
they see panicky people every day!
I get panic attacks and when i go to the dentist i always think of this and it makes me feel much better.I remember 6 years ago my husband going to the dentist for a xray and being taken home by the NURSE because he fainted , hes not a panic person at all but get him in a dentist and hes worse than i am.

You will be fine and the way to think is "so what if I faint" they see it every day.

Good luck Ju - just think how pleased you'll be to have got it over and done with.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks guys[8D]
I found the links you provided v helpful Meg, Thankyou.
This is the one real huge hurdle I have left. I have managed to get the agoraphobia under control ( mostly lol), I have faced my phobia of wasps ( I don't quite run screaming for the hills at the slightest buzzing sound any more lol ). And I have been going to the dentists ( on my own )getting ready for this proceedure. it's just the final push that makes me unsure.
My dentist is lovely, he's a specialist who only deals with phobics like me, White knuckle riders he calls us[:I].
I just know that I will feel 100% better when he's done his stuff.
I'm gonna do my best, that's all I can do isn't it

Just to let you guys know Monday was a complete flop
I went through all the stress of getting there, then they told me to go home as I had a cold.
I know it was the only thing to do, as you at least have to be able to breathe to have gas and air, butit was still a lot of stress for nothing[xx(]
